The Man Who Loved Only Numbers by Paul Hoffman
The Man Who Loved Only Numbers: The Story of Paul Erdős and the Search for Mathematical Truth by Paul Hoffman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Woo. Brilliant biography. It doesn’t just cover Erdos and his work, but also a bunch of derivative (and fun) stories like that of Fermat’s last theorem and quite a few others. It lays out Erdos’s life perfectly, and also presents all its mathematics in layman’s terms (well, as layman as they can get).
